Let's Talk Turkey - Misconceptions
So you’d like to choose some more earth-friendly resolutions, but you don’t feel you lead a “green” enough lifestyle.
- Misconception #3 dispelled:
#3. No, it does not mean you have to be “live-off-the-earth-hippy-granola” to “qualify” to have some eco-friendly lifestyle resolutions. In other words, you don’t need to “be” green to get green. You just need to start. And you need to consider the choices you make everyday.

CRUSISIS Green Bootcamp Graduate Challenge
- Practise the 3-Rs. Remember: Reduce is the most important of the 3-Rs.
- Reduce your food waste, thus reducing your compost requirements.
- Reduce your driving needs: Pre-plan rides and errands to reduce no. of trips. Try to include walking or taking the bus occasionally.
- Choose healthy groceries: Choose foods that are not processed.
- Reduce your water consumption: Consciously cut by ½ the intensity of water flow you use each time you turn on the tap. (ie: to wash things; brush teeth; take showers, etc…)
- Reduce your electricity consumption: Switch your old bulbs to CFLs (compact fluorescents). All of them! They use less power and last longer.
- Support locally-owned or Canadian-owned businesses, particularly those that sell locally-made or Canadian-made products, whenever possible.
- Reduce your beef consumption: to max. 3 times/wk if it is currently higher.
- Buy green products: Challenge yourself to replace all your cleaning products.
- Lead the “green” movement by example: Challenge yourself to help out a green company or organization.
