Halifax truly is a fabulous place to be if you love coffee since there are so many great Fairtrade cafes in Halifax! Some serve coffee and treats, but many have fine lunch foods as well. Those with market sections allow you to and markets take their yummy goodies, coffees and teas home.
Here’s a sampling of some popular cafes you may or may not have tried. If your favorite is not on the list, send us an e-mail:

- Coastal Coffee (Robie St.)
- Coburg Coffee (Morris St., up from Barrington)
- FRED (Agricola St. @ North St., the old bank building)
- Java Blend Coffee Roasters (6027 North St.)
- Just Us! Coffee Roasters (Spring Garden & Barrington Streets)
- Local Joe’s Café & Market (Oxford Street)
- Steve-O-Reno (drip coffee is Fair Trade & organic). Ask for it.
- The Bean Sprout Café (Clayton Park)
- The Java Factory (Marginal Rd @ Pier 21 & Dartmouth Crossing)
- The Smiling Goat (South Park St.) ??
- Uncommon Grounds (South Park, Lower Water & ??)
- Wired Monk (Morris St.): strictly serve Fair Trade & Certified Organic coffee
- Julien’s Bakery: have one type that is Fair Trade. Ask for it.
- The Gingerbread Haus: used to have it, but people wouldn’t buy it???
