Springboard to Motion: Eco-Commuting
Whether you’re using your feet to get you to your destination for your health or for ecological reasons, it’s a great way to get there. Don’t belittle the fitness value in just walking. You don’t need to do a full aerobic work-out for it to have a meaningful effect on fitness. Walking is a wonderful low-impact cardio-vascular activity that can also be a perfect way to get you from point A to B.
But we don’t really need to tell you about walking since most of us have been doing it since we were born. Nevertheless, we’ll offer the CRUSISIS Everyday Environmentalist™ for Foot-Commuting below with a few tips that might help launch or enhance your walking or running commuting effort.
And if you need new foot-commuting footwear, consider buying Brooks sneakers from the Running Room in support of Kidsfest (www.kidsfestonline.com), helping to eradicate child poverty in Canada. See more details in our Spring Fitness section. The Canadian-owned Running Room also sells jogger-strollers for the walking/ running young family.
