Springboard to Motion: Eco-Commuting
- Wear comfortable walking/ running shoes or bring an extra pair to change into before/ after work.
- Keep the following small items in your bag, briefcase or place of work in case of weather changes: sunscreen, sunglasses, retractable umbrella & hooded windbreaker.
- Get a back-pack for a more comfortable and ergonomical way to carry things.
- Check the weather the night before to ensure proper dress on foot-commuting day.
- Plan your routes ahead of time to ensure you know the foot paths.
- Allow enough time to walk leisurely to your destination, especially if you’re walking to work. There’s no worse way to start the day than in need of a shower!
- Plan to arrive to your destination early if you have an important meeting, in case walking is more treacherous (ie: in winter) or you underestimate walk/run time.
- Plan for daytime walking/ running or use the buddy system at night, especially for ladies.
- Leave shower kit and extra clothing at work if running to arrive.
- Keep a fruit snack and water bottle at work so you have the energy for the journey back… AND to prevent you from buying pop and chocolate bars instead!
