Spring Health, Naturally
We’d be remiss if we didn’t direct you back to the Eco-commuting section of our Spring Guide to help you get your spring fitness started. Eco-commuting is an excellent way to stay fit, especially if you don’t have a lot of extra time to go work out or be a part of any local fitness clubs. You can walk, run, take the bus or car share, all of which have an element of physical fitness and good health related to one degree or another.
However, if you are looking for some suggestions for local fitness and activities, here are a few to get you started:
- Join a bike club like Velo Halifax (velohalifax.ca) for organized rides.
- Join the Halifax Triathlon Club (www.halifaxtriathlonclub.ca) to swim, bike & run.
- Join one of the Running Room’s next series of clinics starting in June. (420-0774)
- Try trail running with the Halifax Run Club (www.halifaxrunningclub.com).
And if you need a new pair of sneakers for all this activity or for your favorite eco-commuting style, consider buying Brooks sneakers from the Running Room in support of Kidsfest (www.kidsfestonline.com), helping to eradicate child poverty in Canada.
Brooks will donate one pair of shoes for every $150 of Brooks merchandise purchased at the Running Room before the end of April. So if you need new sneakers, run out and get a pair now in support of the Kidsfest: a Pathway to Hope program.
What a great note on which to end the Spring Health section… doing something good for your health and your heart!
