2) Holiday Spirit (Pre-Amble)
Although we may be reaching more for our trench coat than our snow coat these days, the holiday season is upon us
Despite the lack of snow, we know the season is here. A clue could be that it’s getting colder. And often we wake to a fleeting cover of white, tempting us to the snowy “White Christmas” we long for… or so the song says
But this isn’t really why we know the season is here.
Storefronts look merry with all their decorations too. But again… that’s not really how we know it’s the Holidays.
Every year, around this time, snow on the ground or not…, decorations hung yet or not…, holiday baking finished yet not…, at some point, something happens to give us that special feeling only the holidays bring. Something happens to make us feel almost giddy and child-like inside, and then we know we too have been ‘tickled’ by the Holiday spirit!
It’s different for everyone and the timing is not always the same. For some, it may be sooner, when they hear the first Christmas song of the season. For others, perhaps a little later, when they figure out the ‘perfect gift’ to put a smile on their loved-one’s face.
For families, it may be seeing young children on stage at their Christmas recital, and watching on proudly as their moment finally arrives after weeks of preparation. And that’s when you feel it… that special feeling…, that Holiday spirit and ‘tickle’ that makes you want to giggle and sing, and at the same time, could just as easily make you spill a small tear… of joy and of wonderment.
The Holidays… “it’s the most wonderful time of the year”… and it’s here!
