Each season, we pick people or organizations, locally AND from away that we feel are worthy of mention: our CRUSISIS Everyday Heroes™ “Near” and “Far”. We always learn a little something about what they’ve done to earn the honour, and for what cause or catalyst. From this, we’re able to perceive how parts of what they've done can possibly be applied to our lives, in hopes that we too are inspired to achieve great things for ‘People, Planet and Community’.

During this time where for many of us, it is one of harvest and thanksgiving, it’s hard not to think about the contrasting poverty and hunger of others.
Another staggering contrast is that rising obesity rates (mentioned in ‘Harvest for Sustenance’ above) are multiplying in a world where hunger recently exceeded the billion-person mark.
These juxtaposed trends highlight the gross inequity and infringement upon people’s right to fundamental needs, such as food, and summon a contemplation about this, and the role of ‘Food Sovereignty’, and yours, among others to follow.

Harvesting for ‘self’ is the best way to ensure your ‘ground’ is fertile and that you achieve the ‘serenity’ required to allow you to: be open to new challenges, or even to old ones; be ready to accept change or stay the course; be tolerant and patient in the face of adversity; be able to learn from and embrace differing points of view; and be willing to listen to others to properly hear what they are truly saying.
